The Vacancy

Innocence oh innocence where did u go

U used to live right by me

You used to be my best friend.

You made me laugh like crazy

You made me have fun like mad.

I felt free and liberated when you were around

You made me feel that the the world was mine

You made me feel that I have nothing to hide.

I felt guilt free and and powerful all the time.

As long as you were there, there were no distances for me

I felt everyone is same, there were no differences for me.

I was unbiased and unprejudiced, saw the world as it is.

Suddenly you left,

Your vacancy was filled too soon.

Now I have no place for you to return.

Unlike Life

Why is life like that?

There's so much around us.

We live in a box and think we know what happens around the world.

So many things happen to so many,

We cry about our tragedies

And think our pain is not comparable to any other.

I got out. I met. I talked.

I saw just a few different people.

I cried, I ached for how life is to them.

I want to change life,

Yet I'm not willing to change anything in my own world.

I'm trapped in my happiness and my sorrows.

I want to heal their pain,

But I can't look beyond my injuries.

I think of the casualties in my world and forget theirs.

I want to relieve them just a little,

But I think my hands are already too full.

My loved ones are so important that it doesn't matter that they don't have anyone.

Life is a struggle for everyone.

It's a number of battles that everyone has to fight everyday.

Some are upset about losing the war, but some can't even win their little fights.

I want to fight for them,

Yet I'm defeated by my own comforts.

I'm already a slave of what I have and fending for my responsibilities.

It seems that they need so much help.

But I realize I'm the one who is really helpless.

I'm confined to my world within some kind of cage, and I think theirs is despaired!

When does this state of restlessness subside?

When do we all feel that there's justice?

There's randomness in our qualities of life that's making everything look chaotic.

They say it's karma but nobody knows,

There are too many unknowns in this system.

To punish someone for a crime they are unaware seems like crime in itself.

Why is life like that?

What is the rationale in it being so cruel to some and so pleasing to others?

It's not a matter of perspective for sure...but that's definitely the excuse that is used!

You are Me

You found me

From a place I did not know I was there.

You pulled me out

From a hole I did not realize I was hiding there.

Not a word had to be said,

Not a promise that had to be kept.

No gifts had to be given,

No expectations were ever set.

I saw the sparkle in your eyes at the sight of me

I heard the joy in your laugh when I opened my arms.

I felt the peace in your hug when you rested on my shoulder

I sensed the calm in your heart when you reached and I held.

You are a part of me that discovered the rest of me.

You are a piece of my soul that gathered the rest of me.

You have not tied me down,

I feel more grounded.

You have not overwhelmed me,

I feel much stronger.

You've made me tear up,

But you've cleared my vision.

You've stirred up my emotions,

But you've firmed my decisions.

You are me....

And from me you came.

And even though you are out there,

You've completed me from within.

Unconditional Happiness

What is it that we want?
How much of that do we need?
Our pains lie in the definitions...
Our sorrows are due to the boundaries.

We are taught about beautiful pictures,
We are conditioned about how beauty is defined.
We close our eyes to the reality and see only
That which, in those pictures is confined.

Our happiness is more about the should be's....
Always fearful and and paranoid about the would be's.
Imagine a world without restrictions...
Only then you can embrace the could be's.

And it's nothing more than a game of acceptance.
The trouble is due to all the things we think we're denied...
It's easy to say you always forget and forgive
And then never let go of the things you couldn't find.

I think we assume that there's an end goal to this entire drama...
And in the process we search, we fail, we plan.
We set milestones to achieve the unknown..
And in the process we preach, we teach, we define.

Wouldn't it be easier to live life one day at a time,
Not worry about that which lies beyond?
Wouldn't it be amazing to embrace all the possibilities,
Without containing our entire lives into a box which is tightly bound?

To cut the ropes of rules...
To unlock the chains of restrictions.
To tear apart the walls of perceived freedom
To break the cages of traditions...

That is the life where beauty would flow freely...
The life where love would be unconditional.
That is the happiness that would be eternal...

The happiness that today is unacceptable.
